Statue of Alfredo Kraus

In remembrance of one of the most famous citizen

Alredo Kraus is internationally recognized among experts as one of the best tenors of the 20th century. The fact that Kraus is the son of an Austrian father and a Canarian mother, and was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is not known by many people.

After his death in the ear 1999 the city fathers built a 10 meter high bronze statue right next to the biggest and most beautiful music hall of the Canarian Isles, the auditorium Kraus, (which is also named after him).

As solid as a rock the statue defies exploding rocks, which are only a few meters away and stands for the immortality of the greatest Canarian artist. The statue is right in the middle of the jardin atantico, the “Atlantic Garden”, which is “inhabited” by Kakteen, blooming flowers and countless butterflies.
