Muelle Deportivo: Yacht Marina in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Facilities, contacts and sailing information at Gran Canaria's largest marina
Muelle Deportivo in Las Palmas is Gran Canaria's largest yacht harbour, offering excellent berths, marina services and a lively waterfront of bars and shops. Every November, it is the departure point of the ARC transatlantic rally. This guide covers marina contacts, berth applications and useful sailing resources.
Sailing and yachting have a long tradition on Gran Canaria. The waters around the Canary Islands offer steady, predictable winds and sheltered berths in several marinas, making the archipelago a popular base for cruising and for Atlantic crossings. In winter, when the Mediterranean has cooled down, the Canaries become one of the most attractive sailing areas in Europe — and one that is easy to reach, with frequent flights arriving throughout the year. The marinas of Las Palmas (Muelle Deportivo), Mogán, Puerto Rico and Pasito Blanco all offer good infrastructure, making them ideal starting or finishing points for a memorable sailing trip.
Muelle Deportivo: Gran Canaria's Largest Yacht Marina
Muelle Deportivo, the yacht marina of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is by far the largest marina on the island. It forms part of the wider harbour area and is managed by the same port authority as the rest of the Port of Las Palmas. The marina has excellent facilities: attractive bars and restaurants line the waterfront, and there are numerous specialist shops and services for boat owners nearby. Every November, Muelle Deportivo is the starting point of the well-known ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers), when hundreds of yachts set off across the Atlantic. Notice boards around the marina often carry crewing opportunities, including for ocean crossings.

Alcaravaneras Beach is directly next to the marina, though it is less attractive than Canteras Beach, roughly 2 km away. The nearest accommodation is about 700 metres away, close to Mercado Central; a wider choice of hotels and apartments, in every category, can be found around Canteras Beach. Parking is available near the marina but can be limited at weekends.
