Bus Stops and Routing

Overview: Line 60 connects the airport and the capital

The Global Line 60 bus connects Gran Canaria Airport (LPA) with Las Palmas every 30 minutes. The journey takes around 30 to 40 minutes to Santa Catalina, depending on traffic.

Important: every bus stops at both San Telmo and Santa Catalina. They are not alternative routes – San Telmo is always a stop in between, about 10 minutes before or after Santa Catalina. You simply choose where to get off, and the fare depends on your stop.

At Santa Catalina, the bus departs from the underground terminal, platform (andén) 20. At San Telmo bus station, it departs from platform (andén) 24.

Which stop is best for your hotel?

Hotel Madrid and the boutique hotels in the old town (Vegueta): the bus can stop at Teatro Pérez Galdós on request – just tell the driver or press the stop button. This saves the walk from San Telmo.

Hotel Parque: only 100 metres from the San Telmo stop.

AC Iberia: within walking distance, just north of San Telmo.

Apartments at Las Canteras beach or in Ciudad Jardín: stay on the bus to Santa Catalina, right next to the cruise port.

Luggage: use the side storage compartment

Line 60 buses have a side luggage compartment. Larger suitcases must go there, not inside the passenger area. A practical tip: many passengers get on and off at the same time during the San Telmo stop, and there have been occasional reports of missing suitcases – usually mix-ups between similar-looking bags, though not always. If you are travelling on to Santa Catalina, it is worth keeping an eye on your luggage during the San Telmo stop.

Travelling at night: Line 5 as an alternative

Even after the last Line 60 departure (23:15 from the airport), there is still a bus option. Line 5, known locally as the "night bus", runs once an hour between midnight and 5am. However, the stop is not directly at the terminal – it is on the motorway near the airport, about 500 metres from the terminal building. It is not always clear whether these buses have a luggage compartment, so if you are travelling with a lot of luggage, it is best to check in advance or book a private transfer instead.

For all other night-time hours with no bus service, a private transfer or an airport taxi is the alternative.

Getting There / Transport Connections

Heading further south? From Santa Catalina or San Telmo, Lines 05, 30 or 50 also reach Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés, without needing to go back to the airport.
