Taperia el Taperio - more than 50 "tapas"

Prepare your own menu from a selection of more than 50 “Tapas”

As the name states, El Taperio offers plenty of “tapas.” The great variety (about 50 different Canarian and Spanish dishes), the good preparation and the low prices are worth high praise. Almost all dishes can be ordered as either “tapa” (snack), “media racion” (half portion) or “racion” (full meal). The vegetable casseroles, the stews, “chipirones fritos” (small backed calamari) and the “pulpo canario” (small octopus with green mojo-sauce) are really good. The big portions (without sides) do not cost more than 5 or 6 Euros in most cases. The “taperio” is ideal for people who like to try new things.

The Taperio does not only convince with its tasty Canarian meals like “papas arrugada” (potatoes with piquant sauce), “carna de cabra” (goat meat), Canarian cheese, or the mentioned “Pulpo Canario” (Canarian squid), but also with dishes from other regions outside of the peninsula. For example, the qualitative distinctive “Jamon de Extremadura” (ham from the Enxtremadura region) or “Torradas de pan” from Katalunia are recommended as well.

The high variety of dishes, originating all over Spain, is the result of the Jose-Luiz Gomez’s exciting life. He is the chef and owner of Taperio. He was worn in the Andalusien city of Cadix and worked in Barcelona before settling down in Las Palmas, where he opened this restaurant and teaches visitors about his culinary experiences.

Variation, diversity and individuality are highly recognized as visitors can arrange their own meals from the great variety of foods offered instead of choosing from a fixed menu. The dishes vary as well. For example, there are different “Paella” every day: one day with “conejo” (hare), then with “caracolas” (snails) and then with seafood or vegetables.

The great location – only a few meters away from the east end of the Canteras beach- is to mention beyond the delicious food offered there. After a satisfying meal, walking on the boardwalk “Paseo de las Canteras” or watching the sunset from “Plaza La Puntilla” offer great opportunities to welcome the night.
